Course "HTML & CSS as data presentation tools"

This online program offers students a way to present their report on variuos activities, such as research, statistical analysis, business analytics or just simple free time activities by simple online website. They will learn how to place text, pictures, tables into this website, make links to othe relevant websites, place contact details, etc. For that puurpose Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) coding will be explained as the standard markup language for creating Web pages and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) as the language we use to style a Web page.

By the conclusion of the program, participants will be able to:

• Make simple one page website using HTML and CSS
• Communicate the results from their reaserchor other activities by placing pictures, tables, text in website
• Deploy website to internet usding free hosting provider

Time commitment

It is expected that program participants will dedicate four hours per week to this online program.

Program will be divided into two days a week, two hours each.

Usually each lecture will be divided into 60 minutes of teaching plus 30 minutes of individual work and 30 discussion of individual work results.

Those participants who attend at least 80% of program, complete a quiz and present final; project will earn a certificate of completion.

Audience

Professionals interested in learning and applying commonly used approaches (HTML and CSS) in web pages. People, who are inetrested in presenting their achievements in nice way.

Eligibility

Basic computer skills, English at least at B1 level. Students need to have a computer, access to internet and be able to install programs necessary for the course

1. Introduction: understanding how the internet works, front-end, back-end.

2. HTML Structure and Basic Elements: Understanding the basic HTML tags and their purpose.

3. HTML Elements, Forms and inputs: features and methods of data collection.

4. Navigation and links: how to connect pages to each other using hyperlinks.

5. How to introduce pictures, videos, figures, etc. into HTML

6. CSS Selectors, Properties and Box model: how to style elements with CSS.

7. Positioning and Layout Schemes: flexbox and CSS grid basics.

8. Making tables with HTML or introducing them from other programs.

9. Final website, which includes all learned elements. Website Deployment

10.Short test. Final project presentation and discussion
